Dr. Pauline Sheldon

Professor of Tourism and former Dean at the School of Travel Industry Management, University of Hawaii, USA.
Her interests are in sustainable tourism policy, health and wellness tourism, information systems, tourism economics, and research methods in tourism.
She has published over 70 papers in tourism journals and three books, serves on the editorial boards of seven tourism journals, and has won outstanding teaching awards. For three years she served as Chair of the BEST Education Network, and also co-founded with Jafar Jafari, the international tourism researchers' electronic bulletin board called TRINET (Tourism Research Information Network), which now has over 1,000 international subscribers.
Her work includes research projects with the World Tourism Organization, World Bank, APEC International Center for Sustainable Tourism, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
She is currently working with the Travel Industry Association of America on a project related to corporate social responsibility in tourism. On a volunteer basis she teaches wellness programs with the Art of Living Foundation, an international, non-profit educational and humanitarian organization.
